For many men, the question of how long they can last during sex is almost always a painful one to answer. Many of them don’t even talk about it.
This is because there are very few things more frustrating and disappointing in the life of every man than not being able to last long enough to satisfy their partners.
It can turn what we mean to be one of life’s greatest joys into a painful disappointment, and it sucks.
But how long is the average man supposed to last?
According to a 2005 study, researchers had 500 heterosexual couples from 5 different countries use stopwatches to measure the time between vaginal penetration and male ejaculation for over four weeks of sex sessions.
After which they discovered that vaginal sex lasts for around 5 to 6 minutes. And between 10 and 25 minutes–if you include foreplay.
But a staggering 80% of guys can’t make it to that ideal duration for intimacy. Many of them have reported to last less than 2 minutes and I’m sure no man will want that considering the fact that most women take between 10 and 25 minutes to climax.
Some studies have actually shown that the average time for women to reach orgasm is between 12 to 13 minutes. While other studies claim that the average is closer to 20 minutes.
It is still uncertain why, but scientists think it’s a combination of psychological and biological factors.
So if you are one of these men, don’t lose hope. You are not alone, in fact, millions of man’s struggle with the same issue and it is the most common sexual disorder among guys.
But the good news is there are several strategies that can help you last longer in bed and live up to your expectations as a worthy partner.
Some of these options include.
- ADOPT FOREPLAY.
Most of you are already familiar with this strategy, but a lot of you don’t really understand it or know how to engage it to help you last long enough to satisfy your partner.
Foreplay is an addition to sexual excitement, and, especially for women, to help prepare the body for intercourse by increasing vaginal lubrication. A well-lubricated virginal can increase her chances of reaching orgasm quicker.
It usually comes before intercourse. And can include a lot of different things, like kissing, sharing fantasies, massaging, pillow fight or touching one another’s genitals.
Women and men are very different in how they react to sex. There’s a physical and emotional element to sexual intimacy. Women are much more inclined to the emotional side of sex than men.
Guys focus more on the physical sex act of sex.
Considering this factor, you need to give your partner plenty of warm-up time before penile-vaginal intercourse begins.
Your partner will also feel more loved, cared for, and special if you take your time with her. This helps to get her physical sexual desire going in a way that starting out with virginal penetration never could.
For some guys, more foreplay can solve your lasting longer issues. It delays your orgasm while getting your partner closer to climax at the same time.
How do you start with introducing foreplay into your sex life to boast your stamina in bed and be able to satisfy your partner?
Start with treating your partner kindly and being helpful early enough. Hug, kiss and show them other forms of affection.
This is because if you’ve been a jerk to her and now expect to have great sex, you’ll likely be in for a rude awakening. Do things for her, tell her pleasant things and occasionally touch her. In doing all this, you are laying a good foundation for a powerful and satisfying sex letter on.
- EXERCISE WELL.
Being able to last long enough to satisfy your partner with no medication will require a great deal of exercise from your part.
Strengthening your muscles will go a long way to helping you, especially working out your pub coccygeal (PC) muscles of the pelvic floor, and working them out well.
One medically recommended way to improve how long you last in bed is by strengthening your pelvic floor muscles.
Your pelvic floor muscles are the same ones that allow you to avoid passing gas. They also enable you to stop urination flow in midstream. When these muscles are weak, it makes it more difficult to delay ejaculation.
By strengthening your pelvic muscles, you’ll have better control over when you climax during intimacy. You also won’t feel so much out of control during climax.
One way of strengthening your Pelvic floor muscles is doing Kegel.

- USE CONDOMS.
If you are having issues with lasting long enough to satisfy your partner, then you should make friend with condom.
Most major condom manufacturers make extra-thick rubbers that act like a slip-on desensitizer for your member during sex, which helps reduce sensitivity and delay ejaculation.
Also, it also preferable to use condoms that come with a numbing agent to help prolong pleasure for you the both of you.
Such condoms like Durex, Trojan, Karma sutra and more.
- TALK TO YOUR PARTNER ABOUT IT.
I understand that naturally, not being able to last long enough in bed is a lonely struggle and can embarrass any man.
First, remember that this is a very common challenge for guys and that it’s not just you.
But you should not have to handle this problem on your own. Talk to your partner about it instead.
Communicating with your partner about it can help you overcome it.
This is because your partner may wrongly assume you don’t want to please her. But by discussing these challenges, you’ll be able to let her know that you badly want to please her.
Once your partner understands what’s happening, she’ll be more willing to help.
Most of the time, guys are often too hard on themselves over their perceived sexual problems than their female partner ever would be.
If she knows, it will be easy for both of you to work together towards making your sexual life more exciting and fulfilling.
- EDGING AND SQUEEZING METHODS.
I mostly advise men to use the two methods. The edging methods is basically you bringing yourself right to the edge of orgasm, before stopping all sexual activity until you have your excitement under control.
While the squeezing methods involve you applying firm pressure with your thumb and forefinger below the head of your penis, focusing the pressure on the urethra, or the tube running along the underside of the penis when you feel your orgasm coming.
Both techniques can help you last longer in bed by pushing blood out of the penis and momentarily decreasing sexual tension, which represses the ejaculatory response.
While I suggest you use both because sometimes you may get too carried away that just stopping all movement won’t work. At moments like this, you use the squeeze method to come things down, after which you continue your ride slowly and gently with passion and desire.
- DISTRACT YOURSELF.
This is one of the oldest way of repressing your orgasm during sex. Keep in mind that your mind plays a big role during sex.
Aroused during sex. Inevitably starts with a sexually charged thought.
If you really want to last long in bed, try paying better attention to your brain. Understand the role it plays in helping you build sexual interest to the point of climax.
Then, you’ll be able to effectively direct your thoughts towards your desire end.
If you find yourself building up too fast, try thinking of something less sexual or something that isn’t sex related like money, your job or responsibilities, even your debts.
This thought distracts you from the immediate action and since your brain can’t hold over one thought at once, it adopts the new thought, freeing the already built up tension.
The bad thing about this method is that if you drift too far, you can lose erection and ruin the moment, so you have to be careful when using this method.
- EAT STAMINA ENHANCING FOODS.
Last but not the least, eat foods that will boast your stamina and help you last long in bed. Foods rich in L-citrulline. Amino acid, which the body converts into L-arginine.
L-arginine helps make your erection harder by stimulating the production of nitric oxide, which increases blood flow to the penis, strengthening erections.
This L-Citrulline rich food includes Water melon, Banana, Chili pepper, Apple, Ginger, Oat, Garlic, Avocados, Nuts etc. Make them a part of your daily consumption and it will help you last long enough in bed to satisfy your partner.
To your continued growth.
